MINNEAPOLIS, MN (December 7, 2021) — Solutran announced they were awarded the City of Seattle contract to support the City’s Fresh Bucks program to transition from paper to electronic benefits. Fresh Bucks is managed by the City of Seattle Office of Sustainability and Environment. The program helps income-qualified Seattle residents afford healthy food by providing benefits that can be used to buy fruits and vegetables. The program launched with new electronic benefits on October 1, 2021. Solutran’s electronic solution drives modernization of the Fresh Bucks processes by providing real-time data and improving accessibility to healthy fruits and vegetables for participating customers.
Solutran’s S3® Healthy Savings app makes Fresh Bucks benefits spendable at the point-of-sale for farmers’ markets, neighborhood stores and chain supermarkets. Both customers and operators are provided interactive mobile and web applications and portals to easily view transactions and balances.
“The Fresh Bucks program helps reduce racial and health disparities by increasing access to healthy food,” said Robyn Kumar, Fresh Bucks Program Manager. “The new electronic benefit model improves the shopping experience for the communities we serve while also streamlining processes for our retail partners.”
“Solutran is committed to providing advanced solutions for government benefit services. We are honored to work with the City of Seattle Office of Sustainability and Environment’s team to deliver benefit technologies for citizens using secure cards, web portals, and smart phone apps,” said Kathleen Synstegaard, Vice President, Government EBT Services, Solutran.
