MINNEAPOLIS, MN (December 10, 2021) — Solutran announced a successful WIC EBT pilot with the New Jersey Department of Health Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Program. Statewide rollout is scheduled to begin in January 2022.
Solutran’s S3® WIC EBT system will service over 142,000 WIC participants monthly in the state, supporting families with healthy foods when they need them the most. Solutran’s EBT services provide a healthy interaction at the grocery store and convenience to the cardholder. The New Jersey WIC cardholders have access to Solutran’s web-based cardholder portal, intuitive interactive voice response (IVR) system, and customer service staff for easy benefits management and problem resolution.
Solutran’s technology alleviates the challenges and inefficiencies of paper vouchers. The move to EBT promotes contactless benefit loading and eliminates the transfer of paper vouchers from cardholder to grocery clerk to support health protocols in place due the COVID-19 pandemic.
“New Jersey is excited to make purchasing of healthy foods easier for WIC families and EBT has transformed our entire benefit system,” said Nancy Scotto-Rosato, PhD., Executive Director of WIC Services for New Jersey Department of Health. “This transformation could not have been accomplished without Solutran and our entire EBT Team.”
“Solutran is committed to providing advanced solutions for WIC participants and vendors. We are pleased to work with the New Jersey Department of Health team to deliver technology for WIC participants using secure cards, web portals, and smart phone apps,” said Kathleen Synstegaard, Vice President, Government EBT Services, Solutran.
